Spring and Fall City Wide Cleanup

The Osage City Council approves twice a year, spring and fall clean-up week

The next clean-up week is scheduled for September 22 - 26, 2025


CLEANUP IS FOR THE ONE WEEK ONLY - ALL ITEMS SHOULD BE PLACED AT CURBSIDE BY 7:00 A.M. ON YOUR REGULAR SCHEDULED TRASH PICKUP DAY

City employees will not enter your property to pick up trash and the City reserves the right to not pick up selected items that are not a part of this list.

 Acceptable items include:

  • Boxes
  • Junk Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Small Appliances and other metal items
  • Other bulky items
  • All smaller items must be bagged or boxed.
  • Metal and Brush must be separated

 Items that will NOT be picked up:

  • Tires
  • Vehicles and/or major auto parts.
  • Buildings, major building parts, or large piles of building material
  • Construction Materials – No lumber
  • Plaster or Drywall
  • Roofing Materials
  • Concrete chunks
  • Loose piles of trash
  • Animal Carcasses
  • Refrigerators with Freon
  • NO HAZARDOUS WASTE

A SPECIAL PICKUP SERVICE CAN BE SCHEDULED FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE. TO SCHEDULE A SPECIAL PICKUP OUTSIDE OF CITY-WIDE CLEANUP WEEK OR INQUIRE ABOUT THE FEE CALL CITY HALL AT 528-3714.

The City of Osage City has a compost site located at 4th & Superior Street (behind the old sewer plant) for dumping of tree limbs, grass clippings and leaves only.  This site is under video surveillance. For more information contact City Hall at 528-3714.

Spring & Fall Burn Time

Osage City Council approves twice a year, spring and fill, a set time for citizens withing the City limits to burn leaves, brush piles or yard waste.  These scheduled times will be advertised in the local newspaper, City website & City Facebook page.  

Requirements are as follows:

  • Conditions must be favorable during the set burn period and the County does not have a burn ban in place
  • Wind speed is not more than 10 MPH
  • A water hose is securely fastened to an operable water faucet, and the length of the hose available is sufficient to reach the area where the controlled burn is occurring
  • No fire should be left unattended
  • No burning is to be performed on or intersect the sidewalks, streets or gutters of City streets

Shred Events

The City typically hosts a free shred event to dispose of personal documents in conjunction with City Wide Clean-up week on a bi-annual basis.  When scheduled, this event will be advertised in the local newspaper, City website & City Facebook Page. The next shred event will be scheduled for Fall 2026.
