Trash Services
Weekly Collection Service
Weekly collection service, at the alley or curb, is available to all residential properties at $18.00 per month per household in the City Limits and $27.00 per month for those outside the City Limits. If the customer forgets to place the cart at the curb or alley, the Sanitation Department will return and empty the cart once per year at no cost. Billing is handled by the Utility Clerks at City Hall. Please call 528-3714 to start or stop service or to obtain information about your bill.
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
Sanitation crews operate Monday through Friday except for holidays. Following these holidays, routes will be picked up one (1) day later.
Collection Guidelines
- Place all refuse and household trash in the cart at the curb or ally by 7:00 a.m. on pick-up day
- Do not leave your cart at the curb for more than 24 hours
- Do not overfill the cart as it may be too heavy to be picked up
- Please ensure that all trash is placed in bags to avoid loose materials from scattering
- Make sure the cart lid is closed at all times
- Materials that will not be picked up and should not be placed in carts include:
- excavation and construction materials, debris including dirt, rock, brick, concrete, plaster, lumber, and roofing materials
- Only trash placed in Osage City Carts will be removed
- For Cardboard and Paper Products not contaminated with liquids or other solids, a recycling trailer is provided by Osage County Recycling which is located at 216 S. 9th Street next to the Street and Sanitation Department.
Special Pick-ups
A Special pick-up service may be requested for large amounts. Billing for special pick-ups for existing customers is $50 for the first 15 minutes and $50 for each 30-minute increment thereafter. For non-customers billing is $75 for the first 15 minutes and $75 for each 30-minute increment thereafter.
Have an extra bag of trash that will not fit in your cart? You can purchase bag tags that will allow pick-up of loose bags of trash outside of your cart for $3.00 each from City Hall.
Does your household need an additional trash cart? Reach out to City Hall to add an additional residential trash cart to your property for an additional $18.00 per month.
Cart Maintenance
- Each cart has a serial number and will remain the property of the City
- The City will take care of all normal repairs and requests for repair should be reported to City Hall
- Customers will be responsible for damage to the carts resulting from neglect or abuse such as damage from hot coals or puncture holes. Damaged cart fees are $175.00 per cart
- Customers will not be responsible for damage due to vandalism or theft of a cart from their property. Such incidents should be promptly reported to City Hall
- The plastic cart can and should be cleaned regularly by the customer with water and household detergent
Dumpster Service
- Are you a business or are you completing a clean out project of a residence? City Hall also rents out two-, three-, four- & six-yard dumpsters with M-W-F weekly pick-ups. Contact City Hall to schedule a dumpster.

Yard Waste
To divert natural materials and to save customers extra costs from hauling to the Osage County Landfill, the Sanitation Department has a yard waste disposal site located at 4th and Superior. Yard waste includes grass, leaves, garden waste, twigs, and branches. Please don’t mix yard waste and household trash, violators will be fined for illegal dumping. The yard waste disposal site is under video surveillance.
Recycling
For Cardboard and Paper Products not contaminated with liquids or other solids, a recycling trailer is provided by Osage County Recycling which is located at 216 S 9th St. next to the Street and Sanitation Department Building. Recycling containers are also available for plastic, glass, shredded office paper, newspapers, magazines, tin cans and aluminum.
